Configure rules that show, hide, or require contact fields based on the value of other fields — and those rules now also apply where your salespeople actually work every day: the contact record and the task-completion wizard.
1. What it does
Under Settings > Contact > Property logic, you can create rules that:
- Show or hide a field based on the value of another field.
- Mark a field as required or optional based on those same conditions.
- Restrict which options appear on a select field, based on the value of another field (new: "Conditional options," see section 2).
These rules now evaluate in real time in two places beyond the settings screen itself:
- The contact record (creation, edit, and detail).
- The task-completion wizard, on the contact-association fields.
2. Conditional options on select fields
Previously, property logic rules could only control whether a whole field showed or hid. Now you can also limit which options of a select field appear, based on the value of another field.
From a select attribute's edit page, in the new Conditional options card:
- Click "Add conditional rule."
- Choose the field and value that trigger the rule.
- Choose which options to show when that condition is met.
The app summarizes the rule as: "If {field} is {value}, show: ...".
3. Required-field validation
All of this now works the same way in the required-fields form, whether you're moving a contact to a new stage or completing a task: fields appear, disappear, and become required in real time, and if a required field is missing, submission is blocked with an inline error right under it — no matter which of the two you're completing it from.
Relevant scenarios
- Accounts with many custom fields: property logic lets you show only the fields relevant to a given contact type, instead of one long static form.
- Teams with different flows per segment: conditional options let a select field only offer the choices valid for the contact's current segment.
Conclusion
Property logic is now a real behavior layer on top of your contact data, not just a setting that lives on its own — it applies where your salespeople actually work.
